CHENGDU CHECKUP PLANNING
Planning a health checkup in Chengdu as a foreign visitor
The headline package price is only one part of the decision. Before travelling, confirm that the facility can register a foreign-passport self-pay patient, explain exactly what is included, provide usable results, and support appropriate follow-up.
Can a foreign visitor book a checkup in Chengdu?
Policies and booking routes vary by hospital, campus, department, and service level. Do not assume that a general hospital appointment, health-management center, VIP clinic, and international clinic use the same registration process. Ask the specific facility to confirm in writing that it accepts foreign-passport self-pay patients for the requested service.
Send these questions before paying or travelling
- What is the exact hospital, campus, building, department, and check-in desk?
- Can registration be completed with a passport, and is a mainland Chinese phone number or local app account required?
- Is advance physician review or a referral required before the package can be booked?
- Which consultations, laboratory tests, imaging studies, and optional add-ons are included or excluded?
- Is interpretation available throughout the visit, and is it included in the written quote?
- Will the patient receive an English summary, original reports, laboratory values, and downloadable imaging files?
- When are preliminary and final results released, and must the patient still be in Chengdu?
- Which payment methods are accepted, and what are the cancellation, refund, and rescheduling terms?
Do not treat “full-body checkup” as a standard package
The phrase can describe very different scopes. Request an itemized list rather than comparing package names or the number of tests. Whole-body imaging, endoscopy, contrast material, pathology, specialist visits, sedation, or follow-up consultations may be separate. Only a qualified clinician who understands the person's age, history, symptoms, prior results, and risk factors can advise which screening is appropriate.
Plan for results, not only testing day
- Ask who reviews the combined findings and whether a physician consultation is included.
- Confirm how urgent, abnormal, or incidental findings are communicated.
- Allow enough time in Chengdu for delayed reports or an additional consultation.
- Request records in formats a clinician at home can open and review.
- Arrange follow-up before departure when an existing clinician may need to receive the results.
Build the real trip budget
Separate the quoted package fee from optional tests, interpretation, transport, accommodation, flights, repeat visits, and follow-up after returning home. A low initial price is not an all-in estimate unless the scope, exclusions, and service level are documented.
Get help organizing the pathway
Global Health Pilot provides non-clinical coordination for international patients exploring healthcare pathways in China. We can help organize background information, prepare booking and package questions, compare written scope, coordinate communication and translation, and plan records and follow-up. We do not diagnose, choose tests, interpret results, or guarantee access, price, timing, or outcomes.
